STARRC is a great team of researchers and clinicians committed to conducting high quality work that will improve the lives of people who have experienced traumatic events. Joining STARRC is a great way to learn more about the research process, give back to your community, and to prepare for further training and a future career in clinical psychology.

Prospective Graduate Students
Those interested in careers as clinical scientists or scientist practitioners with an emphasis on conducting clinically focused research on violence, traumatic stress, trauma-related psychopathology (e.g., PTSD, substance use) emotion, and emotion regulation are encouraged to apply. Prospective students are encouraged to contact members of the STARRC team prior to applying.
Dr. Badour will NOT be accepting a new PhD student for her lab for the 2025/2026 academic year. (Deadline: Dec. 1, 2024). Click here for more information about the application process.
Prospective Undergraduate Students
Undergraduate students at the University of Kentucky with an interest in Clinical Psychology research are encouraged to apply as volunteer Research Assistants. Students who meet the following criteria will be considered:
- Overall GPA of 3.2 or greater
- Interest in pursuing graduate studies in psychology or a related field (e.g., social work, counseling, medicine)
- Able to commit approximately 9 hours per week to research for a minimum of two consecutive semesters
- Availability on evenings and weekends to assist with research studies (given our work with community members)
Interested students will be asked to complete an application. Potential team members will be contacted and interviewed by a graduate student and by Dr. Badour.
Prospective Post-Baccalaureate Research Assistants
If you have completed a bachelor's degree in psychology or another related field and are interested in obtaining additional research experience in the STARRC lab prior to applying for graduate school please contact Dr. Badour directly to discuss possible opportunities.
